An application where the Inconel 718 tubing is in gas turbines or what is also referred to as a combustion turbine. A gas turbine is a device that is continuous and is an internal combustion engine.
A major roadblock during the construction of a turbine is selecting an appropriate material that aids to combat creep. In this instance, Inconel 718 is an ideal metal, which not only offers good tensile, but also good fatigue, along with higher creep, and rupture strength. Moreover, creep occurring in these turbines is a result of both high stress and elevated temperatures. Since Inconel 718 is a high strength alloy, the UNS N07718 tube is able to withstand temperature as high as about 1300°F.

About Inconel 718 Seamless Pipe
Hence, our clients are not let down by the efficient performance of this nickel based AMS 5590 Alloy 718 seamless tube. The SAE specified AMS 5590 is a solution annealed alloy. This corrosion resistant AMS 5590 designated Inconel 718 pipe is annealed at a temperature of 1950°F; following which the alloy is cooled rapidly, preferably in water. Once cooled these tubes are precipitation hardened at 1400°F for a duration of about 10 hours and the Inconel 718 tube is furnace cooled to a temperature of about 1200°F. Ageing then takes place at the same temperature for 20 hours.
The AMS 5589 Alloy 718 seamless pipe is well suited for applications involving fluid lines and components, where the primary requirement is resistance to stress-rupture of up to a temperature of 1300°F. In addition, the AMS 5589 specified Alloy 718 seamless tubing has good oxidation resistance up to a temperature of 1800°F.
